Places of worship

For many people the parish is the first place you find other Filipinos — before any government office. The Philippine Consulate lists sixteen congregations by name. This page adds what it leaves out: where each one is, when it meets, and whether you will understand the service.

A Catholic Mass in Tagalog

One church in Barcelona holds it, and it is the Filipino national parish. Three separate official sources agree on the Sunday morning time.

Sunday 10:00 and 18:00

Church of Sant Agustí, Plaça de Sant Agustí 2, El Raval. Metro Liceu (L3), a two-minute walk. The parish is called San Lorenzo Ruiz; the sign on the door says Sant Agustí. Full details below.

Eight of the sixteen are recorded as worshipping in Tagalog. These are the others where we could find a time:

How much to trust a time on this page. Every service time here is sourced and none is guessed — but they are not all equally fresh, so each entry says where its times came from and when. Most of the congregational times come from Barcelona City Council’s register of places of worship, which records the date it surveyed each congregation; for several that was more than a decade ago. Where a time is old, or where two official sources disagree, the entry says so and tells you what to ask. Ring before you cross the city.

San Lorenzo Ruiz — the Filipino parish

Parròquia de la Immaculada Concepció i Sant Lorenzo Ruiz

The Filipino national parish of Barcelona. The Archdiocese lists it as a personal parish — a parish for a group of people rather than for a district — and Barcelona City Council’s register describes it in as many words: "personal parish for the faithful of Filipino nationality". It has no building of its own. It uses the church of Sant Agustí in El Raval.

Times from a current sourceLanguage of the serviceTagalog and EnglishThe Tagalog Masses are certain. The English one is where the two official pages disagree — see below.
Sunday 10:00
Mass in Tagalog. The one time on this page that three separate official sources agree on.
Sunday 18:00
Mass in Tagalog. Both Archdiocese pages list it.
Sunday 16:00
Mass in English — listed on one Archdiocese page and contradicted by the other. See below.
Sunday 11:30, 12:45
Mass in Spanish.
Wednesday evening
Mass in Tagalog, with the Perpetual Help novena. One page says 19:30, the other 20:30.
Friday 19:30
Mass in Tagalog.

The two official pages disagree about the English Mass. The Archdiocese’s page for the church of Sant Agustí puts it at 16:00 every Sunday. Its page for the Filipino parish instead says the 10:00 and 18:00 Masses are in English on the first Sunday of the month and in Tagalog on the others. Both are published by the Archdiocese and neither is dated. The Tagalog Masses at 10:00 and 18:00 are not in doubt; the English one is. Ring the parish before you plan a Sunday around it.

  • The sign on the door says Sant Agustí, not San Lorenzo Ruiz. Two parishes share the building: the territorial parish of Sant Agustí and the Filipino personal parish. You want Plaça de Sant Agustí 2, off Carrer de l’Hospital.
  • San Lorenzo Ruiz is the first Filipino saint, martyred in Nagasaki in 1637 and canonised in 1987. His feast is 28 September.

Worth a phone call. Whether the English Mass is at 16:00 every Sunday or only on the first Sunday of the month.

Address, phone and the description of the parish: Barcelona City Council’s register of places of worship, record updated 23 April 2025. Mass times: the Archdiocese of Barcelona’s parish directory, both pages, read 9 September 2026. The 10:00 Tagalog Mass is corroborated a third time by the council’s own 2007 survey of the church.

Catholic churches

The other two the Consulate lists. Both are in El Raval, both are parishes of the Archdiocese of Barcelona, and neither publishes a Mass in English.

Christian communities

Eleven congregations, most of them founded by Filipinos in Barcelona and most of them meeting in rented premises rather than in a church of their own. Two we could not trace at all; they are here so you know we looked.

Muslim communities

Both are in El Raval and both are on the Catalan government’s registry of places of worship. Neither publishes a prayer timetable, so the Friday Jumu’ah time — the one most worth knowing — is the gap on this page we would most like to close.

What we could not confirm

So that you do not spend an evening looking for something that is not published, and so that nobody treats a gap here as a fact.

Not on the Consulate’s list

The Consulate says its list is not exhaustive. These four Tagalog- or English-speaking congregations are on Barcelona’s own register of places of worship and are not on it — included so you can see what "not exhaustive" means in practice, not as a recommendation.

There is also an English-language Catholic Mass outside the Consulate’s list, at the parish of Maria Reina — Sunday 10:30, September to June only, Avinguda d’Esplugues 103, published in the Archdiocese’s own directory. We checked all 211 parishes of the Archdiocese of Barcelona: exactly three list a Mass in English or Tagalog, and they are Sant Agustí, the Filipino parish that uses it, and Maria Reina.

Where this list comes from

The sixteen names are the Philippine Consulate General in Barcelona’s, from page 30 of its ICON Kit, second edition, October 2025. The Consulate prints this note under them, and it applies to our page too:

"The list provided herein is not exhaustive and may not include all establishments. It is subject to change and updates. If you are aware of any additional churches, religious groups, and communities that you believe should be included, kindly contact us at barcelona.pcg at dfa.gov.ph."

We are not recommending any of these congregations, and neither is the Consulate. Being on this page means a government office recorded the name and we found published details for it. Juan More Chance is independent of the Consulate and of every congregation here. If something on this page is wrong, tell the Consulate at the address above so the source gets fixed, and tell us so this page does.

Original research by Juan More Chance, from the sources below. Juan More Chance is independent of the Philippine Consulate and of every congregation named here, handles nothing on their behalf, and recommends none of them. Addresses and service times change; confirm before you travel.

How each entry was checked. Every congregation was looked for in three independent registers — Barcelona City Council’s register of places of worship, the Catalan government’s registry (all editions 2020 to 2024) and the national directory run by the Fundación Pluralismo y Convivencia — and then against its own or its parent body’s website. Fourteen of the sixteen appear in at least one government register in its most recent edition. Addresses were cross-checked against OpenStreetMap, and every distance to a metro station on this page was measured from the register’s own coordinates rather than estimated.

Three things found while checking that are worth stating plainly. The website recorded for the parish of Betlem in the council’s register has lapsed and now serves a gambling site, so we have not linked it. The parent body of Tabernacle of Glory still publishes the address the congregation left in 2013. And the registered address of Jesus Reign Ministry is not where it holds its Sunday service — the council’s register says so in a note that is easy to miss, and following the headline address would take you to the wrong street.

Not confirmed, and written around rather than asserted. Friday prayer times at either mosque. Service times at Jesus Word of God Church and Saint James the Lesser. Anything at all about El Shaddai’s Barcelona chapter or Jesus Christ the Great God and Saviour Church. The language of the service at Christ is the Center Church. Whether the English Mass at San Lorenzo Ruiz is weekly at 16:00 or monthly at 10:00 and 18:00. Whether the Sunday 13:00 Mass at Betlem is still the Filipino community’s. Whether The Great Commission Ministry meets at 14:00 or 17:30. What "AGAPE" refers to in the Consulate’s listing for Jesus Reign Ministry.

Deliberately not here. Any judgement about a congregation, its teaching or its standing. Personal mobile numbers recorded as private in the council’s register, and individuals’ personal email addresses from church directories — institutional contacts only.
